2017 USPS Tactile, Sensory & Interactive Mailpiece Engagement Promotion

By Erin Moloney

The 2017 USPS® Tactile, Sensory & Interactive Mailpiece Engagement Promotion's registration period is now open. Mailers, this is your opportunity to get envelopes noticed and potentially earn a discount on your mailing!

Business Envelopes with Tactile, Sensory & Interactive Features

Did you know that incorporating the physical senses in your envelope’s design can evoke an emotional response from your audience? Neuroscience

and neuromarketing research supports that when marketing materials engage tactile experiences and additional senses, brand recognition and message recall increase. Specialty inks, specialty papers or interactive elements using folds or other dimensional elements can captivate the reader AND possibly qualify your mailing for a 2% USPS® discount when you meet certain specifications.*

Custom Envelope Options

Tension offers a broad range of products that could help your envelope gain approval from USPS®:

  • Embossing: Are you stuck in a mailing rut? Get into the groove with one of our embossed envelopes, such as the TEN Groove. Embossed envelopes can raise response rates by 40%1, so if the USPS® approves your envelope, this promotion allows you to make your impression AND enjoy the 2% discount from the USPS®.
  • Specialty Inks and Papers: Design possibilities incorporating specialty inks and papers are limitless with the help from our creative team in the Tension Design Group. Add some sparkle to your campaign with either glitter or pearlescent pigments in iridescent coatings. Looking to communicate sophistication and elegance? Perhaps a velvety, soft-touch coating is right for you.

As always, be sure to check full program requirements here. The USPS® gives all final approvals, and including one of the design elements mentioned above does not automatically qualify you for the promotions.
